Last Saturday during a youth service, there was this FA (oikos) who stated that they would be doing a life commitment program (or whatever you call it) which they called - 40 days of purity.
That same night after dinner, I thought to myself, "hmmm, that won't be such a bad idea to try". However, after I said the word "try", I immediately recalled a scene from Star Wars Episode V (The Empire Strikes Back) where Master Yoda told this line to Luke Skywalker, "Do or do not; there's no try". "Wow", I thought to myself, there's no try; either a Yes or... a No.
Thus, after a lot of thinking, and as a man of faith (cieeh), I took up that challenge or program (or whatever you call it). This means no vices or in simple terms, a habit considered immoral; pornography, masturbation, gambling, alcoholic, narcotics and smoking.
See, I'm not a fan of smoking, neither taking drugs, and neither gambling. It's the other three that I'm worried about; because supposedly, men are vulnerable when it comes to those “triangular” sins. And to make matters worse, I always failed to stand my guard when it comes to those three lethal sins (oh no).
But anyway, today is the 4th day of the challenge (I started on the 2nd of May, 2010) and it’s going well; better than I thought it would be (hehe). I still have an immense 36 days left on the challenge… And I’m very sure; temptations will come sooner or later.
So let’s see who will win at the end of the challenge, my flesh, or my spirit. Hahaha
God Bless Me!
