Helping Jesus Preview

What a day today is!

Helping Jesus preview was very well accepted! It was critically acclaimed, albeit very minor errors which I'll amend before the movie premiere on the 7th of August.

I'd say an average rating of 4/5 stars were obtained. I think this high rating was due to the fact that this is the first time a movie was produced out of this church. And the great thing is, I got to be a part of it. And I love it!

So thanks for the rating guys!

At the moment, I'm taking a break from editing. Thus the movie will be amended after 3rd of August. haha..

Ok then.. Nothing else to say.

No Bible, No Doraemon

Every morning, the first thing that I'd always do is to go to the toilet; doing business of course, or in other words, poop-ing. Well.. Nothing wrong with that, except that I always read a Doraemon Comic while pooping.

The thing about my toilet is that, I always placed a Doraemon Comic book on top of the cistern, where the flushing buttons would be. Thus every morning and everytime I want to poop, I'll always read the comic. And I always rotate these comics (in ascending order) if I finish reading them in the toilet.

(FYI: Doraemon comic have 45 books, excluding the adventure series.)

That's why it can take me almost 15-20 minutes in the toilet. haha

However, things started to change after Saturday; more precisely, after the youth service on Saturday. As I recalled vividly, the pastor was speaking to us about the success secret of Pastor Billy Graham. It turned out that his (Billy Graham) secret is so simple - No Bible, No Breakfast.

Along that lines, I started to think that it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a go. And so I did try it; but in a different way of course. See, I rarely have breakfast. In fact, almost never. So I've got to amend breakfast to something else.

And I thought how hard would it be to sacrifice the 15-20 minutes of my doraemon comic reading time in placed of reading the bible?

Consequently, I came up with a rule that was firmly and decisively tattooed in my mind now - No Bible, No Doraemon.

And wow... It was good. It has been 4 days now, and I always starts my day in the toilet, while reading the bible. haha..

And the words of the Lord are easy to understand during the morning hour, where my mind is still fresh. Words got in to me like a vehicle speeding at 200 km/h in a secluded highway without any obstruction.

How great is this?

Epic Monday

You know why it was epic??

Because I just watched a movie in an empty theatre... haha.. Can you believe that? I got the whole theatre to myself on a windy monday night. Something like this won't never happen in Singapore.

haha.

Ok then... Just like that.

Graceful Intervention

I had an awesome time at H2O Youth Service yesterday; I felt refreshed, and more importantly, I felt God's grace when I was sitting down all alone in a corner... Well... Not really alone actually... (I'll tell you why later)

You see, the problem with sitting alone in a church service is that, you are not going to be taken care of throughout the service. Hardly anyone is noticing you especially when you're fat and ugly.

Anyway, I recalled a time at the end of the sermon when the Pastor said "get 2 or 3 people around you and pray together". And I was like, "oh no... what a bad time to say that".

I was sitting there all alone as I saw everyone standing up, making small circles, and holding hands in a group of 2-3 people. I was probably the only one standing up alone on the congregation area.

Not wanting to look like a fool and since I was the only one not having a partner, I decided to sit down and leaned forward, resting my head on the back of a chair. So this would looked like as if I was praying alone. Clever intervention I'd say.

Suddenly, someone gave a pat on my back. I turned and I saw the Youth Leader of the church standing next to me. He said with a grin, "let's pray"...

I was flabbergasted, and I tried to force a smile out of my lips just to say thank you; but it was hard to force a smile when you're emotionally stunted.

As he prayed, I felt God's grace so immense in my heart. And tears began seeping out from my eye-lids. It was lovely; and it was graceful. I felt different after that. I saw the church in a new different way too - that this church does cares about lonely people sitting all alone in dark corners.

I got to say thank you to God for his Mercy, and of course, my friend, and a humble leader, John Soetandi, for the graceful intervention he did last night. It was well completed with style...

Odd Phenomena

I've got this weird phenomena - I get high whenever night times arrive. haha.. Because night time is the time where everything gets hotter. The dinner, the movie, the party and of course, late night dessert... and pubs..

It feels like everything is much more happening during the night time. Agree?

The afternoon time seems to be bounded by work, school, and thus, stress and arguments follow.

But no stress or arguments can be found during the night time. Unless you create them yourself, by making a fool of yourself. haha... I'm pretty sure those will happen.

For one thing, I cannot imagine going on a date during the day. It doesn't sound romantic at all. It sounds pretty pathetic actually. So this is an added point for night time, it is more romantic. The candle light dinner, moon-lit walk by the beach, and the passionate kiss underneath the moon light... Ahhh... Perfection.

I don't why this "high" feeling doesn't come during the day where I need it most. But certainly, it does help me to feel alive during the night.

Weird New Phone

You know, my new phone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, is a little bit weird. It doesn't allow me to post a new blog on blogger. It only allows me to write the title of the blog; but not the body of the blog.

What's up with this?

Does this happens to BlackBerry and Iphone as well?

Sad Sad Little Thing

So today's the last day I'll be here in Singapore; because as of 645 pm this evening, I'll be leaving Singapore already - for Perth.

Ahhhh, the agony.

I'm going to miss the night life, the Cathay (movies), the hawker centre, Sengkang, Jalan Kayu, Tanjong Katong, Pasir Ris.... A lot more to be listed.

However, I just got a moral boost from my best friend who told me to enjoy the last 4-5 months in Perth. And I took it seriously, I want to enjoy the last 4-5 months in Perth without complaining and whining about the homesick nature of this man (me).

So that's how things will go. I'll enjoy Perth as much as I enjoy Singapore. It seems impossible, but if Avatar can be done, nothing is impossible. haha.

Good night then, I'm signing off - from Singapore... Au revoir

Mum looked at my blog

I told my mum recently that I had a blog; and she knew it. So I told her that I wrote something about her on my recent blog (Date Night); that she didn't know.

Hence, I convinced her to read it. hahaha

Oh my, when she read it, she was laughing as if I was tickling her. Her laughter squeaks like a mouse who has just found a gold-plated cheese burger. It was weird, but wonderful... It's wonderfully weird.

Next, I introduced her some of the blogs that I followed, or should I say neighbour-blogs (as stated by ci Bombie). After seeing all that, I got her to think that blogging is fun. It's a way to let your feelings out. She blatantly agreed. (Good job Will!)

One last thing, to ci Bombie... My mum looked at your blog, and she said you look beautiful, and suggested that you should hang out with guys who are like "Mr Big", from sex and the city, more often. haha.. I think you'd know what she means.. :P

One of my best friend, Ineke Inawaty, has finally gotten a job. Yay! That means, she can treat me lunch and dinner already. :D

After more than a year of finding a job in this little country, you made it as a customer service person. That's so great!

Congrats my darling...

Date Night

I had an awesome night yesterday. It was lovely; it was a date night with my mum...

It started when my mum was in town (Sgp) yesterday for business. Turns out that she actually is a busy woman. She is like the "Carrie Bradshaw" in my family, albeit married already lah... haha

Anyway, yesterday I was in Sengkang at my best friend's house, and my mum called me.

Mum: William mau pegi dinner sama mami ga?
Will: Ummmm... Gimana ya? Aku masi di rumah temen
Best Friend: pegi lah kur... dasar buaya loe!
Will:?!
Best Friend: Buaya!
Will: Ok mum, aku pulang sekarang.
Mami: Ok, mami uda mau sampe rumah.
Will: ok bye
Best Friend: Lu pulang kur? Anter gw ke Compass point donk. Gw mau dinner
Will: Buaya loe!

As I drove home, I thought about where should we have dinner. And I came up with Serangoon Gardens. "Ahhhh, what a perfect choice." I thought to myself.

Frankly speaking, I had never gone out with my mum alone. I mean just the two of us. However, I connect better with my mum than with my dad. I don't know why, but it's just easier to talk to my mum. And I actually loved listening to her myriad of stories and advices about life and love. It's those long stories that made me realised how great my mum is.

So during dinner, I asked her many questions and also asked for opinions about my friends, my life, my love life.. My mum even talked me out to get seperate bank accounts when I get married, just in case I get a divorce, so that my future wife can't touch that. haha.

On the topic of my friends, I asked her opinion about ci Bombie, that she's almost 30 and doesn't has a boyfriend yet. And she said, "Why are you so "kaypoh" on someone else's life? What about yourself?" I laughed when she said that. haha..

On the topic of my life, I told her that I passed all my units in this semester. And she was gleaming with joy.

On the topic of love, I told her that when I was 18, I went to a church camp with "pria-sejati", and during the camp, I signed a treaty with the Lord that I will not have girlfriends until I'm 24. She laughed, I laughed, and I even felt that the grilled spicy sting-ray that has been half-eaten laughed at my face.

So there were times when I tried to ask a girl to be my girlfriend, but I was rejected for no reason. I think if I were to count in my head, I've been rejected almost 15 times with different girls.

Wow, is that sad? Or just something every men has to go through in their lives?

Ok, so dinner was good, I love hanging out with my mum.

After dinner, she said she's meeting some friends at Marina-Bay Sands for drinks, but I knew she's playing poker at the casino... But never mind all that, after all, she is still a working mother with 3 kids, who just wanna have fun...

21 Things to do in Life

My blissful auntie sent me an email on these 21 points about life. I think this is a wonderful testament to be shared...

1) Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully
2) Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other
3) Don't believe all you hear, (don't) spend all you have or (don't) sleep all you want
4) When you say, 'I love you,' mean it
5) When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look the person in the eye
6) Be engaged at least six months before you get married
7) Believe in love at first sight
8) Never laugh at anyone's dream. People who don't have dreams don't have much
9) Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely
10) In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling
11) Don't judge people by their relatives
12) Talk slowly but think quickly
13) When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'
14) Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk
15) Say 'bless you' when you hear someone sneeze
16) When you lose, don't lose the lesson
17) Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions
18) Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship
19) When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it
20) Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice
21) Spend some time alone

MIA

Oh no.... I've been missing in action for quite a number of days from blogger and I kind of miss everything... Well, not everything but a lot of things.

Updates from Ci bombie, Elrica, Jenita, Gillian and some of their friends that I followed were massive. It feels like a loser as people had blogged their post, while I slack away.

So now I have to read up all their post in order to get myself updated about the latest news from them.

Probably one of the prime updates was Elrica's post on Twilight Eclipse. I got myself a huge grin as I read through her updates, because seriously, we're on the same mind. I found that the romance part of the movie were a little bit... Eeeewww... You know.. It's just not what I expected at all.

Another thing I found out, most girls hate Bella. I recalled as I was sitting next to 5 "Twihard" girls; one of them whispered softly to her friends, "that Bitch is stupid", during the beginning of the film where Bella and Edward sat on field of flowers.

I was a bit stunted; I don't know why, because she (Bella) seems lovely to me. Not only Bella, but Alice (played by Ashley Greene) too.. Hehe.. But I got to be honest, I adore Alice more than Bella. haha.. (sorry Edward) ..

Strange and unfamiliar manner happened at the theatre during the film thanks to the 5 bunch of girls sitting right next to me.

On the subject of Edward, I recalled a scene where Edward proposed to Bella, and then the girl next to me whispered this pretty loud, "I'll marry you Edward".... And then there were faint laughters among the audience.

On the subject of Jacob, I vividly recalled a scene where Bella punched Jacob on the cheek, and then she broke her hand as Jacob's cheek was too strong for Bella. The girl sitting next to me was like, "That's my man.." And then there were faint laughters again.

These girls were enthralled whenever Jacob and Edward collide at each other, even at scenes where no one think was funny. And yet, they still get exicted over the wolf and vampire.

If there was any consolation to Twilight Eclipse, this film was much better then New Moon, although still not as convincing as the first Twilight film.

But I'd say what made this film convincing was the fact that there Twihard fans in the theatre... And 5 of them sat next to me to brightened up the atmosphere of the theatre. Otherwise it will be another snorefest..

9 Temples - Is it really 9?

I just watched the Thai-horror film 9 Temples; and let me warn you, before you watch it... Don't watch it... It's not because it's frightening like the Shutter (2004), but because it's a total bore-fest accompanied with a bloated running time.

I don't feel like describing the movie here; this is due to the fact that I don't really get the main message of the film. Also, some of the scenes were often irrelevant to the film, and hence, they shouldn't be there.

My favourite horror film of all time is another Thai-horror film called the "Shutter" (2004). When you compare 9 Temples against the Shutter, 9 Temples is a total crap. It's nothing like the shutter. It's totally unrealistic and it's not down to earth, where we can relate the film into our normal lives.

The Shutter (2004) has everything a horror movie should have. The ghost, the suspense, the story, the plot, the music and of course the realistic factor. It's not another cheap horror film where it's more shocking instead of horrifying; the shutter is totally horrifying. I can't sleep for 3 days after watching the film.

Anyway, coming back to 9 Temples, I can't really see that it's a horror movie. There were too many "un-needed" clips in the movie, and they didn't relate to the story. It's definitely not horrifying. Trust me on this, it's more shocking than horrifying.

Basically, it's just an agonising experience sitting there watching another cheap-scare-horror film that cost $8. What a waste. Should have watch Twilight Eclipse instead.

Good Bye TLG...

I think it's time for me to quit TLG, including the ministry that I've started with, TLG Production; but I'm not a quitter, and never will. I just had enough of the ministry and service.

Part of the reason is because I'm sick of being left out as I'm away in Perth for most of the time that I missed everything. It seems stupid, but I'm falling behind on so many glitters of TLG; like events and special events, and more special events.

So I'd rather not get involved with something that I already missed... Because what's the point of attending something that you've missed? It's like attending for an exam that is not meant for you.

Another reason why I'm quitting is because of the people in TLG. Look at how TLG has grown? It's so insipiring to see them grow like that. It was never like that when I was around. And now, I can't even name them, they're completely new people of different personalities and backgrounds.

It's like a new TLG, one where I felt like a perfect stranger standing in the crowds, amidst of all the joyful songs of celebration. And thus, I'm like a new soul, who's the entering the church for the first time alone, when in fact, I've been there for almost 13 years.

I got a feeling that the new generation of TLG leaders tend to forget the pioneers of the service. As a result, these pioneers are often not appreciated of what they had done to TLG - and they quit.

A friend of mine who has been sticking as "Sound-Man" for years, had decided to quit TLG because he felt unappreciated. Now, he's only faithful to the sunday service at BCS, where he felt more appreciated and productive due to little gestures of positive comments from BCS's coordinators.

So I don't know if it's the service of TLG? Or if it's the leadership of TLG? Or if it's the people of TLG, that is making me uncomfortable after almost 13 years of dedication to the service.

I still can't find an answer, but even if I do, I'd rather stick it in my head and keep it as a pleasant, albeit poignant memory to me, where one day I could tell this little story to my grandchildren as a bedtime story...

Or maybe even as a fairytale, because I've got a lot of boy-girl crushes during the 12 years I'm there, including the one who's older than me. haha.

So... Good bye TLG...

(It's weird saying goodbye to a computer screen isn't it? Haha)

Hail the Dutch!

It was just enthralling! The atmosphere, the commentator and of course, the match. This was no ordinary match; it's the Dutch going against Brazil mind you, a five-times world cup holder who never lost a tournament in this world cup... At least till today.

I was astonished, because I thought Brazil looked like they were going to win the match when Robinho first-half strike sunk the Dutch ship in the early 10-minutes of the game. Throughout the first half, they continued to attack the Dutch defense, almost making it 2-0 at half-time.

However, things change during the remaining 45 minutes. It's the dutch that attacked the brazilian now. Everything went from bad to worst for the brazilian. First, an own goal, then another goal conceded, and finally a red-card for Mello.

Up until the 83rd minute, I was waiting anxiously for the final whistle to blow. Why? Because it is now Netherlands turns to write a history - by defeating Brazil. And next, becoming the world champion. They were superbly magnificent in this world cup, winning every game they played.

For once now I've become a holland supporter. And frankly, it's not something to be embarrassed at. They truly deserved this, the win and the world cup; so whatever it is, Hail the Dutch!
